The UK Gambling Commission is the regulator for the gambling industry in the UK. The Commission is responsible for the licensing process for bookmakers, as well as creating a framework they must follow. The Commission enforces its policies and can fine operators who are found to have not complied with British gambling law.

The Independent Betting Adjudication Service (IBAS) is a dispute resolution body that acts in instances of disputes between consumers and bookmakers. If a consumer can not settle a dispute with an operator, for example around payment for a bet, then they can turn to IBAS for an independent resolution service. IBAS is approved by the UKGC.

The European Sports Security Association is the body that looks to combat match-fixing in sport and maintain integrity. To do this, the ESSA looks closely at betting activity for signs of suspicious patterns. A core principle of the ESSA is to protect operators and consumers, as well as the bodies that represent sports themselves. The ESSA works together with a number of regulators, including the UK Gambling Commission.
